Position Overview

As a member of the Shearwater Health team, the Business Change Manager is responsible for leading cost of care and process/performance improvement initiatives from concept to implementation. These initiatives include operational assessment, strategic planning and a variety of project methodologies that seek to deliver value to the organization, our client partners, and the populations our clients serve. The Business Change Manager will also lead and be involved in understanding the needs of our clients, advising, and designing solutions that address the needs of our clients, facilitate resolution of client issues/operational challenges, and align with desired client outcomes/results. He/she will serve as a clinical program industry expert and subject matter expert for improving quality outcomes and clinical performance.

The Business Change Manager will partner with our clients and various departments within Shearwater Health including Sales, Clinical Operations, Account Management, Business Excellence, Quality and Training to provide differentiating and distinctive service(s) that support the achievement of our client’s strategic goals/objectives.

In the Business Change Manager role, you will:

  • Lead multiple projects of various sizes and complexity including financial/budget impact and capacity/resource planning.
  • Coordinate activities for all assigned projects/initiatives from readiness assessment and planning to completion of implementation.
  • Conduct technical and business discovery discussions with client and internal business stakeholders prior to, during and post project/initiative implementation.
  • Lead effort to design process flows and implement business change(s) needed to drive quality and performance improvement and resolve operational issue(s)/challenge(s)
  • Develop performance reports that allow for and enable process/trend analysis post-project implementation.
  • Measure and evaluate data to determine the impact and effectiveness of business change/process improvement.
  • Develop relationships and establish credibility with key stakeholders including client to achieve solution strategy objectives/goals.
  • Serve as the project/initiative lead for overseeing process improvement workplans and project plans which includes maintaining calendar, documentation and tracking deliverable due dates to ensure timely completion and implementation of business change.
  • Identify dependencies, risks and provide status updates on initiatives/projects and action plans to client and key business stakeholders; offer recommendation(s) when initiative/project off-track.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with client and key stakeholders to resolve project/initiative issues, challenges, and barriers.
  • Track and monitor ongoing compliance with applicable business/contract requirements.
  • Develop policies/procedure documents, workflows and training material as necessary/needed for project/initiative/business change implementation and evaluate existing organizational documentation for contract compliance and alignment with planned business change/future state.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field required; degree in nursing preferred.
  • Master's degree/master’s degree in business administration (MBA) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in clinical operations, project management, health and/or public service solution architect, healthcare compliance, quality management and/or performance improvement; a combination of experience within these areas is acceptable.
  • Experience and knowledge of URAC, NCQA, CMS and regulatory standards and requirements is preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial insurance plans and products.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency with using SharePoint, Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables), Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Lync, Webinar.
  • Ability to utilize multiple technology platforms for video conferencing.
  • Computer literate with in-depth knowledge, experience working with databases, graphics, and spreadsheets to generate reports required.
  • Previous or current workforce management/capacity planning experience preferred.
  • Within 3 years of being in the role, the candidate will obtain project management certification (PMP) and lean six sigma certification.
  • Knowledge of performance and quality reporting required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to use statistics to evaluate and interpret data, summarize results, and make recommendations required.
  • Previous experience managing company-wide initiatives required.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, monitor his/her own work to ensure quality and apply feedback to improve performance.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teams of individuals with diverse skills and experience, including outside of traditional work hours; this often requires shifting priorities and initiatives quickly.
  • Requires initiative, strong problem-solving ability, and self-motivation.
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills with ability to make independent decisions.
  • Ability to critically think and devise plans to address deficiencies with ability to track corrective action plans to closure.
  • Passion for lifelong learning and development with ability to effectively research, assess and utilize information (internal and external sources) to develop plan of action, make recommendations and/or decisions.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision but able to recognize when to seek out guidance/direction or escalate.
  • Travel up to 30% travel (domestic and international). Travel to headquarters in Nashville, client site/location(s), and delivery center(s) in the Philippines and India.
