The Controller will play a pivotal role in driving the financial success of the company. You’ll lead the charge in overseeing transactional operations teams (A/R, A/P, Treasury), ensuring accuracy and integrity in corporate financial reporting, and steering the team toward excellence. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of property accounting, major prop-tech platforms, financial management, and regulatory standards. As a key partner to senior management, you’ll provide critical financial and operational insights that will shape the company’s strategic direction and future growth.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury teams.
  • Create automated business processes to enhance productivity and profitability.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure data integrity and financial accuracy.
  • Assist the Managing Director of Finance with the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to ensure accurate and achievable financial goals.
  • Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Optimize working capital by managing accounts receivable and payable processes.
  • Partner with the Managing Director and executive team to develop and implement financial strategies.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial and tax regulations.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, addressing any issues or discrepancies.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate finance activities as needed.
  • Set performance goals and provide regular feedback to ensure team alignment with company objectives.
  • Identify and implement training opportunities to enhance the team’s skill set and productivity.
  • Must be present with the ability to move throughout our corporate office to address accounts payable related matters, ensuring effective communication with staff and vendors.
  • Position may be required to perform duties outside their normal responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in multifamily real estate is preferred, deep experience with the Yardi ERP is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
  • Proven experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in navigating computers and property management software, to include Microsoft Office, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills, Yardi suite and associated applications/platforms (ClickPay, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Project Management and systems implementation experience preferred.
  • Experience in corporate finance activities, such as mergers and acquisitions.
  • Work authorization (required)

Note: This is a Director level position.
