Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Monitors the integrity of the pipeline system and takes appropriate action when necessary to ensure Howard Energy Partners is recognized as a prudent operator by regulatory agencies, utilizing the SCADA system.
• Provides emergency response coordination and makes appropriate notifications.
• Ensures uninterrupted transportation service of natural gas and liquids on all pipelines.
• Monitors system performance and capacities and notifies the appropriate person(s) about equipment in need of repair or calibration.
• Sets flow rates at control valves to meet scheduled customer nominations.
• Works with field personnel to troubleshoot equipment issues affecting pipeline operations.
• Negotiates flow deviations due to operational upsets and other methods to maximize volumes and revenues.
• Remotely operates control valves to maintain system demands and contract pressures.
• Adheres to all Control Room Management Regulations set forth by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and follows all Howard Energy Partners’ procedures.
• Ensures that gas quality at receipt/delivery points meets tariff specifications.
• Documents all pipeline events, abnormal operating conditions, and maintains a call log.
• Assists field measurement/I&E and the SCADA teams with point-to-point verification.
• Assists customers and operations teams as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Possess a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
• Basic understanding of gas control and pipeline operations.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and their operation.
• Ability to monitor and interpret data from control systems.
• Proficiency in performing basic mathematical calculations relevant to gas control operations.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with team members and stakeholders.
• Capability to work effectively in a 24/7 operational environment, including shift work.
• Adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Problem-solving skills to address routine operational issues.
• Attention to detail in monitoring and reporting operational parameters.
• Willingness to undergo training, acquire and maintain relevant certifications for gas control operations.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of Controller experience preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with a focus on Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Required to be fit for duty in a 24/7 environment with a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays (Modified DuPont Schedule)

Certifications:

• Pipeline Control Operator Certification

Travel:

Travel required locally or long-distance up to 20% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.

Equipment:

Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to the position.

Mental and Physical Demands:

General office and sedentary. Regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing; occasional: lifting/carrying, pulling/pushing up to 30 pounds.

Maintain emotional control under stress, work with interruptions and deadlines.

May work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Environmental Factors:

Occasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.). Occasional exposure to weather related conditions when working in an outdoor environment.
