Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer Intern will acquire knowledge and develop basic skills while performing routine technical work from the Engineering Team at Rotochopper.

  • Use engineering theory and experience to develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
  • Know and understand the project scope, specifications, and any regulatory requirements that are applicable to the machine being developed.
  • Produce three-dimensional (3D) models, using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items such as body or chassis components.
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
  • Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and engineering changes associated with projects and resolve job specification differences.
  • Prepare or present technical or project status reports.
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, or processes to meet requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues and concerns, partnering with other departments and leadership as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field from a four-year university. Must be in 3rd or 4th year of program or working toward an equivalent engineering certification.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks drawing software.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to conceptualize and create mechanical designs.
  • Excellent problem solving, technical, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics and fluid power is considered a plus.
