About you and this role Our Job monitors all parameters and alarms on Dow's pipeline systems within each of the 4 regions of the Gulf Coast Pipeline within the states of Texas and Louisiana. This includes the monitoring and control of all Pipeline systems, compressor stations, pumping stations, and storage facilities. A Product Controller must know the geographic location of all remote telemetry systems by using the computer and must know how to make telemetry checks. As part of the Controller team, you will work to balance the fuel gas, feedstocks, ethylene, and other olefin products coming into the pipelines on a twenty-four (24) hour basis to match the Supply Chain overall nomination plans. A Controller will gather and utilize key performance metrics on shift that are applicable to the Operating pipelines to optimize operations and identify improvement opportunities. The Product Controller must project a positive image about Dow Pipeline's operations regarding safe operations, and environmental concerns, (such as spills, fires, leaks, or call-in reports) when dealing with the public, government officials, or other chemical plants. Along with monitoring the telephone, radio, and VSAT systems, you must communicate with pipeline personnel, plant technical personnel, maintenance personnel, Dow plants served, and other companies connected to our pipeline system. For example, the Product Controller is responsible for making sure the communication lines are working at all telemetry stations. When having problems with communication lines, he/she is responsible for getting proper personnel out to repair as soon as possible. The Controller must be familiar with the general area in which field technicians normally work to monitor the system and coordinate the activities effectively. As you get integrated into the team, you will be expected to complete your training goals in a timely manner and maintain your control board qualification in assigned areas per facility policy. This includes using discretionary time to address skills and knowledge gaps. In the future, you will mentor and train new and existing operations personnel on process operation, troubleshooting, and the use of operating discipline in alignment with the plant's training process. Responsibilities
- Monitors all telephone and emergency communication systems and assists the Pipeline Emergency Coordinator during plant and/or pipeline emergencies.
- Responsible for initiating immediate action regarding pipeline emergencies reporting to state and local law enforcement agencies, National Transportation Safety Personnel, and any other agency or company associated with an emergency.
- Works with Shift Team members and other Shift Teams to leverage skills and knowledge to balance workload ensuring assigned tasks are completed by due dates.
- Initiates & documents preliminary investigations according to plant-specific process/criteria and participates in formal and informal Root Cause Investigations for events involved in or by request.
- Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in HPC performance and operating discipline. Actively and proactively identifies improvements and opportunities utilizing the facility improvement processes, appropriate management of change processes, and communication tools.
- Performs Immediate Response activities assigned by the Immediate Response Leader. Activities include participating in Immediate Response (IR) Drills, participating as an Immediate Response Team member under the leadership of the formal Immediate Response Leader (IRL) to bring an identified IR Situation under control in an expedient manner, and Participating with the Immediate Response Team in conducting post reviews to identify strengths and opportunities that improve the effectiveness of Immediate Response activities.
Qualifications - A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of three or more years of experience within the hydrocarbon industry operations, chemical or petrochemical manufacturing industry, or related pipeline operations.
- Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
- Must be able to work overtime per business need.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills are required.
- A self-starter who can identify, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S.-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills - Experience with chemical process flows, able to interpret a flow sheet.
- Operational knowledge of compressors, pumps, valves, instrumentation, and related mechanical equipment.
- Possess an understanding of the safety process of hydrocarbon movement.
