The Associate Director of Development for The McCourt School of Public Policy is a vital member of the University's frontline fundraising team and will play a critical role in building connectivity, engagement, and philanthropic support for The McCourt school, located in the center of the policy world - Washington, D.C. This position, embedded within the University's Office of Advancement but partnered closely with the Dean of McCourt and key McCourt faculty/academic leaders, will be responsible for raising philanthropic support specifically for the school, but must also represent at times the broader institution. As Georgetown is in the midst of an exciting and ambitious Campaign, Called to Be, the position holder will need to be comfortable communicating the wider campaign priorities, but also be able to dig deeply into the priorities and initiatives of McCourt. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: Fundraising Build and manage a portfolio of 100-120 prospective donors and current donors, with prospects ranging in giving capacity from $25,000 to $500,000 and working through data to establish a group of constituents not otherwise engaged with the University. Develop and implement an effective strategy for attaining specific fundraising goals for McCourt, meeting stated goals for dollars raised, visits, and asks/proposal submissions annually. Conduct visits with the purpose of qualifying prospective donors and sharing McCourt priorities with the ultimate goal of building the pipeline of major gift prospects. Work internally to present and pitch the appropriate opportunities for support, leveraging leaders and volunteers in pursuit of raising support. Create individualized engagement plans for donors to include the process from cultivation to solicitation to stewardship. Donor Engagement, Events, and GUOA Partnerships In coordination with appropriate Office of Advancement partners, build out McCourt-led donor event strategies, including the planning and execution as necessary. When appropriate, work with fellow OA colleagues on the Regional and Unit Development teams, Special Events, and Donor Engagement, with events ranging from targeted, development-focused gatherings to larger scale opportunities. Expose McCourt constituents to faculty and administrators in an effort to develop and bolster strong philanthropic relationships and maximize gift potential for the school and broader University. Play a role in the management of any McCourt boards that require a philanthropic commitment, including oversight of board giving and maximizing board-related opportunities for engagement. Engage volunteer leaders to further gift conversations, connections, and other portfolio work when appropriate, developing and executing a plan for any individual McCourt faculty members who, with support from the Dean, want to engage constituents around their programming or initiatives. Manage strong internal partnerships and collaboration with the Alumni Association (GUAA) to ensure alignment with affinity groups which may have close ties in areas of interest for McCourt alumni. Collaborate with the Annual Fund team to effectively reach and impact McCourt constituents, working with the Stewardship team as a liaison to provide information and input on stewardship reports. Develop customized stewardship opportunities for current donors, working closely with the Strategic Initiatives team on content and proposal design. Indirect Fundraising and Administrative Work Write or edit correspondence, acknowledgement letters, briefings, and other written materials, participating in design and development of print materials for communications, reports, and events. Maintain accurate and up to date data in Advancement's CRM - GU360, overseeing gift agreements and gift processing and other University paperwork. Manage a travel and program budget, ensuring data integrity. Verify the accuracy of gift reports and ensure correct gift accounting and cost centers, managing substantive moves data and verifying the accuracy of contact information to ensure quality and accuracy of gift reports. Staff academic leaders as assigned and provide presidential and principal-level briefings. Participate in OA sponsored events and training programs. Work Interactions This position reports to the Senior Director, McCourt. The ADOD, McCourt will partner with Office of Advancement (OA) colleagues, with a heavy emphasis on collaboration with other development officers, including the regional-based Development teams, to help with idea generation, planning, and execution of creative cultivation and engagement initiatives associated with the campaign and major gifts enterprise. The ADOD, McCourt will also interact with principals, faculty, and other University leaders in efforts aimed at reaching fundraising and engagement goals. Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor's degree Three to five years of professional experience, preferably in a development/fundraising environment. Some previous policy experience or expertise is ideal A desire to contribute to and participate in the mission of Georgetown University and the Office of Advancement Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Suite and Google Suite Experience with prospect management systems, donor databases, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems A solid understanding and experience working with people from policy backgrounds and/or organizations Ability to adapt communication style and work style to meet the needs of constituents Highly collaborative, with excellent attention to detail, and adept at managing multiple priorities Possesses professional maturity and can apply tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in dealing with members of the University community and the University's donors Takes initiative and is action-oriented with highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative as appropriate Work Mode Designation This position has been designated as Hybrid 2 Days . Pay Range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $54,616.00 - $100,493.33.
