About this role Udemy is looking for a data scientist to join a team focused on leveraging deep learning to build user-facing learning experiences and to drive more effective personalization for Content Recommendations and Marketing use cases. You will work as part of a cross-functional agile team that includes data scientists, machine learning engineers, software engineers, designers, and product managers. What you'll be doing Develop machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact Adapt standard machine learning methods to solve business problems Design and analyze randomized controlled experiments As needed, develop robust feature and inference pipelines, and write production code Identify significant new opportunities for data science and product roadmaps, and influence roadmap prioritization Apply specialized domain knowledge to identify opportunities and influence prioritization of improvements to existing model architectures, methods and approaches Design and partner with ML Engineers to build systems and services to understand deep learning application performance and perform root cause analysis Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship for team members Autonomously lead planning and execution for complex problem spaces and major cross-team initiatives Work directly with partner teams and stakeholders to own projects which address related problems, and help set technical direction for projects owned by others Work autonomously, relentlessly prioritize, and collaborate with team members across time zones Advocate for technical quality and engineering best practices What you'll have 6+ years of hands-on Data Science or ML Engineering experience (4+ if you have a PhD) 4+ years of hands-on experience in one of the following technical domains: machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, NLP, artificial intelligence, or a related technical field Proficiency with 1+ programming language(s) (e.g. Python) Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders We understand that not everyone will match each of the above qualifications.
